We are all devastated with the recent terrorist attacks on Mumbai. Many lost their lives. The number of dead are still being counted. May all the departed souls rest in peace and may God give strength to the families that lost their loved ones. This is not just an attack on financial capital of India, but it is an attack on our democracy and on the core values that this nation stands for. Thankfully, our security agencies have been able to curb the terror.
While our brave soldiers were fighting against the maniacs, the politicians in our country were busy playing blame game and trying to grab media attention. More than the terror attacks, I think the attitude of our politicians is more condemnable.
While the battle is over, the war has just begun. And this brings upon us some great challenges that we will have to face. Given the situation, the politicians will try the following things
· Blame other countries and try to deviate focus from the need to strengthen intelligence gathering and the social reforms that are required in order to curb terror attacks
· Try to gain political mileage by fueling hatred and possibly even violence amongst communities
We, the citizens of India, have a great responsibility to ensure that we DO NOT let our politicians take advantage of the situation and mislead us.
Through these tough times, we all must stay united, stay focused; on spreading a message of peace and harmony and ensure that the situation comes under control.
To begin with, we request everyone across the world to tie a WHITE BAND on their arms on Wednesday December 3rd 2008. Usually, we see black bands to express protest. We chose a white band because we want to convey a message to the terrorists and to the politicians. We want them to know that we will not bow down. We will not fall prey to their tactics of dividing us on the basis of our religion.
No matter what they do, WE ALL STAND UNITED.
Please forward this message to as many people as you can. Be it an Indian, a Pakistani, a Briton, an American or just anyone. We all must stand together against terrorism and petty politics. You can express your opinions on our “Show your support” blog-post. If you want to know how else you can help this cause, please visit our “Spread the word” page.
Note: We are planning a lot of other things on the ground level. Getting involved in mainstream problem solving is one of them. This “White Band” initiative is just a symbolic gesture and a way to bring people together for a single cause. If you wish to remain informed of all the activities that we are planning, please join the group mentioned below.
On Behalf of Revolutionaries for Democracy.
We all are together and were never with any politician ! And yes, that’s where we gave them a chance to whatsoever they are today. Needless getting into the details, I shall Request rather Plead every Indian to VOTE the right party/person.
Hope this White Band also embraces an oath to always VOTE (from now).
It is hard to continue to vote to the same set of jokers. It is either the devil or the deep sea. However, I do agree that we need to do in whatever capacity we can to make this world a better place to live. May the souls of those departed rest in peace.
Well voting does make a difference no matter how corrupt the candidates, because its civic responsibility not only to chose the greater of the two goods, but also the lesser of the two evils.
good start
i will also tie a white band
This is good start. Let’s pluck out these bloody politicians from the roots. Especially politicians like Raj Thackeray, who would have demanded even the NSG commandoes should be maharastrians to save the hostages..

Democracy without politics ? Please explain.
politician’s r so cheap and so dirty..one thing is clear that they do not thing India as one..and they do not have any commitments towards the common man’s safety.
National security should be number one task followed for powerty , eductions, food , etc
Let our capable , brave and brilliant army to do thier job on the border. they will definitly make sure that bordar remains secure from the terorist. Let them take decisions on the border without any minister’s permission.
internally, postpone all the f*****g elections in the country for now. start intensive time and goal bound mission to take down all those terorists and other who support them. Shake up RAW and IB and make them deliver info time to time and also they should follow up with respective inteligence receiver to make sure that they have acted on it.

HELP others as much as you can
PAY TAXES
EDUCATE OTHERS
Let me clarify some of the views expressed in the blog-post. We are NOT against politics. Whole world looks at India as an example of self-governance and Democracy. It is one of the pillars of this country and we have full faith in it.
However, we are against the opportunism and cowardliness that is currently being displayed by our current leaders. We are against the notion that politics is bad. Politics isn’t bad. It is the current lot of politicians who are bad.
We are creating momentum around thoughts that today’s youth will join active politics and devote themselves to a thorough overhaul of the political landscape and thus achieve “Sampoorna Swarajya”.
[...] My tributes to all victims and salutes to brave soldiers who fought and won the terror. Please show your support to stay united against [...]
Odd, I never saw this kind of response from India nationals after 9/11 which clearly had 10x the amount of civilian casualties. Even for the Oklahoma blast – NOTHING!
Sure, I feel sympathy for the love ones lost, empathy for those that endured. However, what I see is a selfish society whose core is rotten.

Please Pay tribute to Mumbai’s Martyr’s…. Light a candle for them…for those who gave their life for us for MUMBAI…
I say, first of all to avoid terrorist attack is every citizen in India should feel responsible to their country. Every one should put some attention about the people moving around you. Atlease, to the distance which our eyesight have. We have to report when we find such situations.
Let’s save our own country. Let’s be proactive every time. Let’s utter the flag of peace.
Why is it when we are attacked we wake up and shout for being Indian. What I see around me is we are always talking about our city, state, religion but least about our country. I’ve seen people talking about their organization more proudly than India.
We wake up one morning from sleep and shout for India for 8 Hours and then go back to sleep and never wake up till we don’t have any such terror attack…
Why white Band on 3rd of December, why not every day… Isn’t it enough of talking it’s time let’s doing something.. Let’s begin.. Before it’s too late…
Hats-off to the people who were in frontline THE COMMANDOS, MARCOS and POLICE. I wonder, did MNS Karyakartas gone fishing when Mumbai wanted them? Not a single statement from senseless Raj. Hope they realise now atleast, we need to be UNITED as Indians rather than developing/encouraging feelings of being north-indian/south-indian, Mumbaikars, etc….ultimately the Indian Army had come for rescue which doesnot have this discremination, had mixture of people from various indian cultures. My sincere salute to them! I liked the statement which was circulated thru SMS “Forgiving terrorist is left to GOD. But fixing their appointment with GOD is our responsibility – INDIAN ARMY”.
As a citizen of India am I accountable for paying my taxes and filing my Income Tax Returns on time.
Then why is it that none of our public servants have any accountability, you talk about the road conditions in Mumbai, the cleanliness of the city, the plight of our railways in Mumbai where commutters travell like animals, the safety of our citizens consider all these aspects and tell me is anyone held accountable for this mess, and the fact of he matter is there is no accountability.
It is high time we stand together as responsible citizens and make our public servants accountable, one of the suggestions that I heard in one of the discussions was to file a PIL and let every citizen do this and ask for these Public Servants to be accountable.
I feel sorry for the security personnel who have laid down there lifes for the city, but look at our shameless politicians who have not done anything for the country and are always ready to malign these sacrifices.
Enough is Enough!!!! we cannot take any more of this in the name of the spirit of a Mumbaikar.
We are devastated by this act of terror in mumbai and as India is our home all the states are our homes as well… i have loved ones in mumbai and we care as well… would love to tie the white band forever!!!!
don’t allow any alliance government to rule in India (the only solution is 100% voting in assembly & Parliament elections, we all should vote with responsibility and faith)
if the government is of single party majority, the system can some what come under control with less political influence
individual should use his/her rights with full of faith and social responsibilities
educate others, don’t waste money, water, power
I really wonder now, if Afzal Guru and his team were wrong when they went on to attack parliament….
If that attack could have been executed correctly, we might not have seen this day when Mumbai was attacked.
A fresh blood who have real true intentions to do something good could have joined politics. Atleast a Fear of Death for Politicians could have resisted these Dumb Headed current politicians to stay away from administration.

Please have a look at this link. This is how true heros are treated by the current politicians and administrators..

We are simply wasting our n efforts. we do not deserve democracy since we are tuned enough for the job. We need the country be under military rule. Let the constitution if need be be amended and put the country under military rule for at least 10 years for sanitation at all walks of our life. we will see the wonders.I am sure you can still recollect the impact of emergency period during Mrs. Indira Gandhi regime. The same people, same place and the same system. The point is we need the accountability that can come only from fear of punishment.
Dear Sumanta, We have seen a lot of “Military ruled” countries in the world and we all know what has happened to them. Whoever is in favor of abolishing democracy which is one of the core values that India stands for is most definitely someone who isn’t ready to fight for his own rights. They are simply willing to wait until someone (such as military or a dictator) comes and rescues them from their miserable life. Trust me my friend, if there is a way to really rescue us, it is through true democracy and with 100% participation in the democratic process. As long as we keep passing the buck saying XYZ should do this, we are not going to move forward.
The solution is to rescue yourself. Come forward, join politics. Raise your issues and find out other’s issues and solve them. Unless you are in administration, how are you going to change the administration?
Great thoughts! Who amongst us is willing to take over a role in poilitics. While this is a beautiful thread, how are we going to take this further? Will this end with tying a white band on our hands? It will be a good idea to take a step further create recommendations and ensure it reaches the right people.
its really sad to see our country under such an attack. I think every1 of us should scan the entire scenario once again. I have done so an came to a conclusion that all this bloody nonsense was just to divert the attension of the public from the main motto. That was to KILL MR KARKARRE and other two officers. So this entire bloody game is of our high authority people ONLY no blody terrorist or anyone.
Well, let us not speculate about any possible conspiracy theories right now. There are several competent investigating agencies working on the case. But it is important that we do not let anything put the fire out. Let us not let anyone mislead us. Let us ensure that the government takes accountability and makes effort to nail down the real guilty instead of just playing a blame-game.
and what is the end goal of this?
The end goal is to have a united India that knows how to govern itself. An India that values public opinion. An India that is built on the pillars of justice, equality and prosperity. An India that once again becomes a missionary of peace and harmony across the world.
It is a dream you may say. Well yes. It is a dream. It definitely is a dream that we all should commit our life to. It is a dream worth dying for. We may not see the dream come true in our lifetime. But we will live and die a life with a sense of satisfaction. And when we take our last breath, we will know that we have made a difference and will hope that the generations to come will continue the battle where we leave it.
i believe all this is politically motivated other wise no body will dare to commit such a heinous act. its all been supported by the politics either national or a international because of them we suffer.today politics is just a game i want to win working for the people for the country is not on their agenda they just want the seat and power. our country needs a stringent military ruler a soldier a true son of soil.my heart crys for the people who got killed the innocent people.the religion does not play any role in here we all should stay united. stand together for our country.teach a lesson for those who play with our mother land.
my six sense says all this was done to kill our brave officers who were very tough.
[...] Stay United [...]
